Weddings and Reunions

Greetings Wedding and Reunion Families !

First of all: Before you do any reading. Look at the wedding pictures by clicking  < here >

If you like my work, come back to this page for the details.

The format here is a little different from the rest of the site . . . It's more personal. Because weddings are very personal. You need to know a bit about me - I'll be coming to your wedding. . .

Over the last 15 years I have shot over 50 weddings. Weddings are great. I make time for them because they provide artistic and documentary options which are stunning. I love making stunning pictures -- so, for me, photographing weddings is a match made in heaven . . . and while I'm a steady pro news photog, I'm also a little bit of a romantic . . . with a goofy and creative side as well.

Making pictures at a wedding is a chance to tell the story of the day -- like a photojournalist does every day -- on a day of celebration. Making these photos on your day of celebration is an honor and a joy for me. I document the things which are right with the world. When two people stand up and say they love each other and are going to stand by each other for the rest of their lives - I say hooray! I'm a believer in that kind of commitment -- across the world. More love, commitment and patience will go a long way to fix what's wrong with the world. So - document it and remember it!

The logistics !

I craft wedding coverage to suit you, the couple. The more planning, the better. I want to know as much as I can about your day. Times, places, people, anything you've thought about - I want to know it - so I can document your day completely.

I provide a DVD with hi res files and a Public Web Site for every wedding client. I let you make prints from the DVD I send to you and I let you, the couple download the imagery from the site. Others can view and buy prints (ie: your guests) from the site - but only you can download.

Please do ask if you'd like anything custom made : slide show, thank you card with a quick turnaround, a print with a matte ready for signatures, t shirts, mugs or any other creative think you can think of. . .  I can help!

A few answers to FAQ:

My minimum hours at a wedding is three.  I carry insurance.  I bring a ton of backup gear including a strobe kit. I don't work with an assistant or second shooter unless you ask me to do so, and I will bill extra (a la carte) for this. I don't generally provide an album or any prints, but can help you with this if you want it. I travel up to 100 miles from Bath Maine for no extra charge. After 100 miles I charge 50 cents per mile - round trip. I collect Maine State Sales tax at 5% for weddings shot in Maine.  I ask for a $100 deposit and a signed contract in advance. I deliver images within 30 days. I shoot jpg and/or raw files based on situation. I do not provide all files I shoot. I deliver no fewer than 50 images per hour of shooting: usually many more though. I do as much post pro as is needed. Some files are not touched, others get a lot of time and effort - based on my artistic judgement or your inquiry afterwards. I do include the arty details I make from your day. The Web Gallery I make for you will be viewable by the public, but the couple will be the only ones allowed to download - with a custom login and their own password. I set up the gallery so that prints are available to be purchased through the site. You're not obliged to buy from me though. This is a convenience service for you, your family and friends. It's much quicker than if you are he clearing house for prints! You as the couple, may make unlimited prints for your personal use or family with any lab you'd like. I will post your pics to a Facebook gallery for you if you'd like me to do so.  I do not allow resale of my imagery.  I retain copyright but allow you unlimited usage. If you submit my imagery for publication anywhere, please let me know and pass the editorial contact info to me as a courtesy.

Prices:

Wedding package prices start at $600 for a three-hour off-season weekend. For a summer weekend day, the price is $1500. I define summer as June 1- Sept 15. The rest of the year is off-season. Off season weekends are $200/ hour with a 3 hour minimum. I'm flexible and want to work with you. Please do ask about custom or creative projects. I am open to barter and often will throw in extras out of nowhere - things like big canvas prints, cool looking thank-you notes or other fun stuff. Please ask if you dig fun stuff. One couple I worked with did an engagement portrait and then had a puzzle made from the photo. They spread the pieces around on the reception tables - guests had to wander around and get to know each other to find the right pieces. Fun stuff!

I ask $50/ hour for significant design or post production services. We can roll that into the contract or you can order it a la carte during or after your wedding.

Reunions

Family reunions are great as well. I try to do these on summer Sundays and weekdays. Often we gather up a group of families and I come to your picnic or event. Through the course of the event, I make candid photos of your interactions. I also pull each family group aside for standard group shots. Once I've got a simple group shot with eyes open and smiles in place - I start getting creative and try to make it more fun. Prices are $200/ hour for these. I suggest sets of 2-3 hours for groups of more than 10 people. I try to do it in a fun place where people can be playing independently - and not just standing around waiting for pictures to happen. I play well with children and adults alike and try to make it interesting. Usually I can do senior portraits for high schoolers in one session as well.

Bringing me to your reunion is a great element of a fun family day - especially for families who have not seen each other in a while and want to create a playful memory at a lovely coastal place. I call this Family Photojournalism. We do some formal family portraiture and some documentary and play time. It really works well. I've got a few families who keep calling me back. We do it almost every year!
