4/27/11 -- BRUNSWICK, Maine. Eliot Pitney, Coach of Bowdoin Women's Crew, drills his team on the new Meadows river in late April. Pitney has coached at Bowdoin for the last 4 years. and before that at Bates. "This time of year," he says, " I'm ready to quit -- I'm just exhausted. But, give me a week off and then I'm right back at it -- ready to go for fall!" Pitney, also working on a Master's in Mechanical Engineering puts in about 12 hours a week on the water - not including trips to and from races. "It gets in your blood," he says of rowing.
