  • PORTLAND, Maine  11/15/18 --  Luke Lermond, a member of the Forestry Section of Portland’s Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department, cuts this year's Christmas tree from the front yard of the South Portland Fire department at Cash Corner.  The fire Department donated a 40-foot blue spruce to the city of Portland as this year's Christmas tree.  <br />
Crews from Portland cut and prepared the tree to be set in a storm drain in the center of Monument Square.  Keeley Crane Services and Shaw Brothers Construction donated staff, crane, and transportation services.<br />
Later this week, the tree will be lit with over 5,000 LED lights at the Monument Square Tree Lighting on Friday, November 23 at 5:00 p.m.<br />
Santa Claus has suggested he might make an appearance and local musicians will be performing.<br />

  • BRUNSWICK, Maine -- 5/30/16 -- A combat veteran of both World War II and Korea, this Brunswick man agreed to be photographed but chose to remain anonymous to honor the 34 men in his unit who were killed during the Korean War.  <br />

  • 12/11/10  - BATH, Maine. -- Paige Bishop, 8, rides on the back of the sled -- and her sister Haylee, 4, on a small hill near their home in Bath on Saturday afternoon. Temps plummeted at the end of last week, leaving a dusting of sleddable snow. Rain through the weekend wiped out the girls' sled hill over the weekend -- and they are likely out of luck through next Tuesday -- when light snow showers are predicted again. Photo by Roger S.   • May 15, 2009 -- BRUNSWICK, Maine. Gorham Valedictorian Jennie Wiacek, 18, lights a candlaria lantern along the side of the track at Brunswick High School prior to the reading of the names of those lost but not forgotten. Jennie's mother and aunt are both survivors of the  disease. Walkers took to the track through the night on Friday in support of Cancer survivors, victims, and fundraising efforts as part of The American Cancer Society's annual Relay for Life.
